Community Hub Experience Specialist

FEILDING NZ

Feilding, New Zealand

Reference: 6822893

Create exceptional experiences at the heart of our community.

We're looking for a Community Hub Experience Specialist to join our team at Manawatū Community Hub Libraries - a space that combines library, council, and visitor information services under one roof.

This is a role for someone who enjoys variety. One moment you'll be processing bookings or payments, helping customers with enquiries, or finding the right resource; the next you'll be on your feet shelving, setting up for an event, or supporting youth in shared spaces. You'll be part of the team that keeps our Hub running smoothly, welcoming visitors, solving problems, and making sure everyone leaves feeling supported and connected.

What you'll do

  • Deliver friendly, high-quality service across library, council, and visitor information functions.
  • Help customers navigate digital tools, local services, and community information.
  • Support daily operations including bookings, payments, and technology setup.
  • Keep our spaces safe, tidy, and welcoming for all.
  • Work flexibly with colleagues to ensure seamless service across the Hub.
  • Contribute to community connection through programmes, events, and local partnerships.

What you'll bring

  • Experience in customer-facing or community-based work - libraries, customer service, retail, education, recreation, or hospitality.
  • Confidence with technology and the ability to support others in using digital tools.
  • A positive, calm, and solutions-focused approach - even when things get busy.
  • Strong communication skills and a genuine interest in helping people of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Physical stamina for the hands-on, active nature of Hub work.
  • A full NZ driver's licence (van driving confidence is a bonus!).
  • A relevant qualification in libraries, education, community studies, or technology is an advantage, but what matters most is your passion for people and service.

Why join us?

At Manawatū District Council, our vision is a connected, vibrant and thriving Manawatū. Our Community Hub Libraries are at the heart of that - modern, welcoming spaces where people come to learn, connect, and discover.

This is a permanent, part-time position (8 hours per week), working every Saturday - perfect for someone who enjoys variety, people, and being part of the weekend buzz at the Hub.

The hourly rate range is $26.73 - $32.21, with the starting rate being determined by the experience you bring. Note the minimum age for this role is 16 years old.

If you're the kind of person who enjoys variety - from helping someone with a council payment or digital query, to shelving new books or setting up for a community event - this is the role for you. You'll be part of a supportive, people-focused team that makes a real difference every day in the heart of our community.
