We're looking for an Intermediate Accountant to join our Finance team on a fixed-term basis, supporting the delivery of accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis. If you're detail-oriented, adaptable, and thrive in a collaborative environment, this role offers the perfect balance of challenge and opportunity.

About the Role

You'll work closely with our Finance Business Partners to support daily and monthly financial operations. This includes assisting with the preparation of the Annual Plan, Annual Report, and Long-Term Plan, as well as contributing to reconciliations, cashflow management, and compliance reporting.

Your typical day could involve:

  • Supporting the delivery of monthly and annual financial reports.
  • Preparing and maintaining reconciliations and general ledger entries.
  • Assisting with payroll processing and accruals.
  • Preparing GST and FBT returns and ensuring compliance with legislation.
  • Contributing to cashflow forecasting and investment record management.
  • Providing financial advice and analysis to internal stakeholders.

About You

You'll bring a strong foundation in finance and accounting, with a drive to learn and develop further. You'll have an eye for detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

We're looking for someone with:

  • At least 3 years' experience in a medium to large finance team.
  • Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain financial information clearly.
  • A collaborative, team-focused mindset and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance (desirable).
  • Experience in management or systems accounting and/or local government (desirable).
