Community and Youth Coordinator

Do you enjoy keeping things organised, on track, and running smoothly?

This role provides coordination and administrative support for Council's Community Committees, Youth Council, youth programmes, and the Welcoming Communities programme. It's about making sure meetings, actions, and initiatives are well managed, tracked, and followed through across Council.

This role involves regular evening meetings and travel across the district, including to rural locations. We're looking for someone who is highly organised, detail-focused, and enjoys supporting others to do their best work.

What you'll do

  • Coordinate Community Committees, including meetings, agendas, actions, and follow-ups
  • Support the Youth Council and youth leadership programmes
  • Coordinate the Welcoming Communities programme, including meetings, reporting, and tracking progress
  • Manage calendars, communications, and reporting requirements
  • Track progress on community initiatives and Council responses
  • Coordinate across Council teams to ensure actions are completed and information flows

What you'll bring

  • Experience in administration, coordination, or supporting programmes, committees, or community groups
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and stakeholders
  • Confidence coordinating meetings, tracking actions, and maintaining systems and processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail
  • Ability to work flexible hours as part of the role, including regular evening meetings
  • Confidence travelling independently across the district, including night driving to rural locations
  • A practical, reliable approach with a strong focus on follow-through
  • A current full driver's licence

The salary range for the role is $71,300 to $83,900 with five weeks' annual leave.
